Highland on a lavender label is often read as a reference to Provence. It is a statement about growing conditions. Lavandula angustifolia grown high gives an oil richer in esters than the same species grown on lowland plains, and that holds well beyond France.
01 · Origin
This oil comes from certified organic, high-altitude cultivation in Bulgaria, a region that has become one of the principal sources of true lavender for the world market. Lavender is a member of the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to the mountains of the western Mediterranean.
02 · Chemistry
Linalyl acetate and linalool lead. Terpinen-4-ol follows, with cis- and trans-beta-ocimene supplying a green top. Lavandulyl acetate, beta-caryophyllene and lavandulol complete the profile. The caryophyllene lends a faint woody warmth beneath the floral body.
03 · In Practice
Fresh, floral and clean, a little brighter than wild French highland oil. Suited to everyday dispensary work where volume matters: diffusion, bath preparations, massage blends and skincare bases. Side-by-side study with Lavender Highland, Superior (No. 1930) shows the range within one species. Blends with sweet orange, geranium, marjoram, cedarwood, rosemary and tea tree.
General information: For external use only. Dilute before applying to skin. Keep away from heat and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
