Peppermint geranium is neither a true geranium nor a rose geranium. It is a pelargonium, and its oil is led by menthone and isomenthone, not the citronellol and geraniol of Geranium (No. 1495). The hardy cranesbill, Geranium macrorrhizum (No. 1488), belongs to another genus altogether.
01 · Origin
A low, spreading pelargonium of the shaded forest margins of the South African Cape. The leaves are broad and thickly covered in soft hairs. This oil is distilled from the leaves of wild-crafted plants, certified organic.
02 · Chemistry
Isomenthone and menthone, ketones also found in peppermint, make up almost the whole profile. The characteristic rosy alcohols of the other pelargonium oils are largely absent. The result is a mint aroma with a green, leafy undertone.
03 · In Practice
Cool, minty and herbaceous, softer and greener than peppermint itself. A top note. Diffusion, massage blends and natural perfumery, where it bridges mint and green-floral accords. Blends with rose geranium, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, lemon, clary sage and spearmint.
General information: For external use only. Dilute before applying to skin. Keep away from heat and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
