Damiana is a small shrub with little scented yellow flowers and it grows in southwest Texas, Mexico, and Central and South America. The oil is beautifully empowering, with a liquor-like aroma, subtle and enticing, and very sensual. Indeed the plant has a reputation for increasing libido for both men and women. The oil can be inhaled, used in a massage blend, or in the bath. Damiana is considered to have an effect on the nervous system which is both relaxing and at the same time stimulating and fortifying. So it has life-enhancing and stimulating effects on the mind and body and works well for stress, mild and moderate depression, anxiety, and nervous exhaustion. For some Damiana seems to have a slightly mind-altering effect, which can be likened to an improved emotional state, almost euphoric. It combines well with Cardamom, Cilantro, Blue Sage, citrus oils, and floral oils.
