About the Plant: The perennial St. John's Wort belongs to the Hypericaceae family and typically thrives in dry soils, embankments, roadside areas, and sunny forest edges. The plant can grow up to 50-90 cm tall, forming angular or round stems with oval leaves and golden-yellow flowers.
Historic notes: St. John's Wort has been closely associated with the summer solstice since ancient times. It is regarded as a symbol of light, as it surrenders itself to the sun like few other plants. For this reason, it served as a potent and magical medicinal plant during the traditional midsummer festival. With the advent of Christianity, the midsummer festival was shifted by three days and renamed St. John's Day. Hence, the plant likely bears the name St. John's Wort.
