About the Plant
The prickly pear cactus belongs to the genus Opuntia and is part of the cactus family. Originally native to Latin America, it now also thrives in Australia, South Africa, and Southern Europe. The tree's figs are oval, with a yellow to reddish spiny skin. The inner pulp can be processed into juice or jam.
