ABOUT THE PLANT Spikenard comes from the humid regions of the Himalayas and grows wild in Nepal, Bhutan, and Sikkim at mountain heights of 3000 and 5000 meters. The flowering plant belongs to the valerian family, whose scents are also similar. Indian spikenard is used to lift spirits and promote relaxation, e.g. also in the case of sleeping problems. Spikenard also promotes healthy skin and was used in ancient Egypt for beauty care. The scent can be described as aromatic, earthy, and spicy, combined with a warm note. The main ingredients of spikenard are sesquiterpenes, which are said to have an anti-inflammatory effect and are very kind to the skin.
